LIVING ROOM WE LOVE

How you decorate your living room says a lot about who you are. Do you want it to be formal or casual? Bright or neutral? Exotic or traditional? To inspire you, here are some of our favorites.

An Art Deco-Style Living Room

The owner of this high-rise apartment wanted a look that was sleek but based on tradition. So designer Marshall Watson added glossy black Art Deco-style doors and furnishings. The palette is silvery, and everything has sheen.

An Easygoing Living Room

This room by Jonathan Rosen is fun, easygoing, and uncluttered. It features the same fabric in two different colors for its come-on-get-happy energy, and enjoys lots of natural light. Under glass on the coffee table is a collage of beloved photos - a space-saving method of display.

An Architectural Living Room

The architecture is the star of the decor in this room, where exposed wood, a vaulted ceiling, a stone floor, and an impressive stucco chimney frame just a few midcentury modern furnishings. Room by Form Architecture and Interiors.

A Warm, Welcoming Living Room

A mix of contemporary and antique furnishings gives an updated look to American country decor in this room by Barbara Westbrook. Wax and the patina of age on the wood furniture, contrasting textures of leather and chenille, the geometric hooked rug, painted wood ceiling, and a few accessories create a warm and welcoming ambience.

A Fresh Blue-and-White Living Room

In this sitting area, a large, updated Queen Anne-style mirror flanked by sconces brings light and subtle pattern to the wall above the sofa, adding interest without distracting from the fresh blue-and-white furniture.

An Elegant Living Room

The fireplace, which has a hand-carved limestone surround, centers the symmetrical design of this living room by Paul Wiseman. Facing each other across a coffee table, a pair of elegant sofas give additional architectural definition to the small space.
